Seyun Om is...

a graphic designer who cares and loves the things around her. She is passionate about East Asian and Latin typography, the arts and working with interesting people.

Workshop

Through this workshop, I wanted people to become more familiar with Korean and learn how tools can affect the form in typography.

This book serves to record and document the Korean Tools to Type workshop. All the letterforms that were created in the workshop were scanned and inserted. 

At the 2023 BFA Graphic Design Thesis Show, “Lived In,” my space was decorated with the letters and tools that were used in the workshop. I also created blank spots in the wall for people to create their own letterform designs and hang up on the wall.

Black Metropolis Research Consortium is a Chicago-based association of libraries, universities, and other archival institutions with major holdings of materials that document Black, African American and African diasporic culture, history, and politics, with a specific focus on materials relating to Chicago.

I refreshed the branding for BMRC with patterns and colors inspired from Chicago’s flags and African American (i.e. Gee’s Bends) quilts. In addition, I produced printed materials and 20th annversary logo, which was ultimately not used.
