Charcoal

Charcoal Magazine is a student publication that focuses on the art and culture of people of color at Boston University. I was the art director for 2 years — my job included brainstorming, controlling the branding, and designing the layouts of the magazine.

05 Believe

The 5th issue, Believe, is centered on the concept of “belief.” It features thoughts on hope, love, vulnerability, and power. As an issue that began right before the COVID epidemic started and eventually published a year later, this issue is a collaborative effort by the previous art director and I.

07 Nude

Nude is the 7th issue of Charcoal Magazine, following an online issue. It features thoughts on what it is to be “nude” — physically and mentally. With many of the pieces being very open and vulnerable, I wanted the design to follow suit.
